  • Do you work for Uber or Lyft?
No, we are a third party, independent company from Uber or Lyft. We are not associated with them and like many other companies through out the country we offer a comprehensive 19-point inspection that you as a ride share driver can then upload through the Uber or Lyft platform so that you can start or continue to drive.
  • What if my car does not pass the inspection?
No problem, you only pay after you pass the inspection so if your vehicle doesnt meet the proper safety requirements you will not be charged. We will simply tell you the reason for the failure and once you can have the issues fixed we will pass your vehicle.

Uber and Lyft require every driver to have their vehicle inspected once every year or at every 50,000 miles, which ever comes first.

For Uber and Lyft, a 4 door vehicle is required. But, for Uber Eats, a 2 door vehicle is acceptable absolutely.

No, Uber and Lyft have different inspection forms. But no need to worry we provide you with which ever one you need or both if necessary for a bundle inspection.
  • If I get an inspection with you, can you guarantee my approval to start driving with Uber or Lyft?"
Being approved to drive for Uber or Lyft depends upon three factors. The first is your vehicle inspection. The second is a background check. The third is a driving record check. Ryan's Mobile Inspections is only involved in the vehicle inspection and has no influence over your background check or driving record check as those are done by Uber or Lyft and we are a seperate company from both Uber and Lyft.
  • What is the age requirement for driving with Uber and Lyft?
For Uber and Lyft the driving age requirement is 21 years old. For Uber Eats the age requirement is 18 years old.
  • If my vehicle is a new purchase, will temporary tags be acceptable?"
Yes, for the inspection that is no problem.
  • Is it okay if I have an out of state license plate or driver's license?
As far as the inspection goes this is no problem but we do recommend checking with Uber and Lyft regarding their policies on these issues.
  • What if my name is not listed on the insurance?
Pertaining to the vehicle inspection, we do not check your insurance but Uber and Lyft require that your name be listed on the insurance in order to start driving for them.
  • Does the car have to be registered in my name?
As far as the vehicle inspection we do not check the registration of your car. For Uber and Lyft, as long as the insurance is in your name it does not matter if the car is registered in your name or not.
  • How should I prepare for the inspection?
Good question! 1. Make sure that your phone in fully charged so that it will be able to last long enought for a 5-10 minute video chat. 2. Download a video chat app. If you have an iphone we will use facetime. If you have an android, we found the best video chat app is Skype but we will use whichever app you prefer. 3. Have a penny ready so that we can do a tire tread test to make sure your tires are suitable for ride share driving. The inspector helping you will guide you through the process and it is very quick and easy. 4. Most importantly, make sure that you are in a place that gets a good cell signal. If you can connect to wi-fi that would be best but make sure that your cellular data is on (sometimes you will be connected to your house wi-fi and when you go out to your car the signal disconnects) so that if this happens your data will keep your video chat connected. 5. Finally, make sure that your are in a well lit area. Especially if at night. Gas stations are a great place to go for lighting at night.
  • What kind of inspection do you provide?
We provide a 19-point inspection that is deemed suitable by Uber and Lyft to be approved for ride share driving. You can see an example of our 19-point inspection here .
